Title : Intrusion Detection System for Security in RFID Networks
Synopsis : Without security, many Internet applications such as email and on-line shopping would not have been possible. As a norm, Internet security refers to Encryption, Authentication, Integrity and Non-repudiation. RFID is well known to be the “Internet of Things”. Security in RFID networks and applications is therefore an important design consideration. To secure RFID networks, it is necessary to evaluate the potential threats of RFID security and develop the appropriate protection.In this project, we are interested to investigate the vulnerability of RFID networks and applications to a number of security threats including denial of service. The student will simulate a RFID supply chain network using discrete event modeling and evaluate the impact of denial of service on the network application. The student will also develop a intrusion detection system to protect RFID networks from foreseeable attacks.
The student will be mainly working in SIMTech. Transport allowance can be granted.
Tasks involved:Literature Review on Internet security issues, Study of Internet Security threats in RFID neworks in Supply Chain, Discrete Event Modeling of RFID Network Security Impact in Supply Chain, Development of Intrusion Detection System
Nature: Computational Pre-requisite: Java Category SIMTech

Dear Mervyn,This thursday, I am not available. We can meet after your have completed your attachment in SIMTech. When will that be? Please revert with your mobile contact number and mailing address.On transport claim, it will be based on per trip basis from NUS/HOME to SIMTech. Please provide me on the cost of such trips when taken.For a start, the tentative plan is for you to work 1-2 days in SIMTech and the rest of the time in NUS. There are some forms that I need you to complete.My colleague WT will follow up with you.On the project work, some background articles are attached for your reading and planning:
