whatcha wanna achieve
Deny all you want, but we are all getting older. Goals, motivations have to be revised as we grow in stature and mature. Much as I want to live in my carefree world of teenage life, 25 does not seem to be within the teenage category. Of course, there are still many who say i look 21 and such which i dunno whether to take as a compliment or what. I am no longer the youngest in the company after newbie joined.
In any case, one has to decide what is ranked higher on the priority list. If you wanna promote, be an achiever, rise high, one has to constantly piah. At the same time, one has to be PR and generate good relations among the colleagues. Zai are those who are able to combine both as they promote. What do i mean? Altho' there is no such scenario as yet, imagine a new colleague entering the dpt and getting promoted faster than one who has been slogging for the past few years. Jealousy and envy looms as this forms part of the office politics. How does one remain well liked despite being promoted? I thought of this scenario after watching American Nxt Top Model. This gal won the challenge but in front of tyra banks she said it was hard to remain well liked cos she won the challenge. In the end she was down to the final 2 to be sent home but she stayed in the end. Tyra said that she won the challenge cos she was BETTER than the others and she shd believe in that, rather than treat the win as a liability. She deserved the win.
At least for me, work aint such a bore. There are new things, issues every wk. Nxt wk big boss coming down from france. Time to wayang and impress! haha but rather more like me getting a big treat out of him cos i haven got my welcome meal yet!!! after 2 mths of working so hard!! I am hoping my bold request for shang ri la's the line is accepted BUT it sure is pricey for him as he has to treat 8 pple -> means 800 dollars he fork out. A test of his generosity beckons.
The CEO came down last wk too, allowing us to take a 3 hr break off work as we went to hear him speak. He sure is a personality, one with vision and answers qns well. It was a 1.5 hr Q n A session where any employee could raise a qn. I was so tempted to ask why no 13th mth bonus when the company is reportedly doing so WELL but considering that i dun wanna be condemned, i decided to diam diam. Turnover rate was pretty high too and there are 45 vacancies for grabs on that day. There was even talk of letting the company's HQ be based in singapore for the asia side. As BBBboss explained his vision, i was given a clearer pic of what the co. hopes to achieve. Also, he said one thing that marketing is all about credibility and cited several examples and he said the main thing the co. needs now are evangelists. TO convince age old customers to use our system instead.
Seems like everyone is setting goals. Maybe it's time for me to plan too. Would you give up your frens just to achieve your goals?
