dammit. and i thought i would get a gd present from new paper.
The prize at stake was a $130 diadora limited edition soccer boots. To win, one had to write in to the New paper Postman. I was v free during work (oops) so i decided to write in for the first time.
Then on the 22nd Aug night, i got a call from the newpaper asking me my age cos' i forgot to include that detail in when i emailed. As such, my hopes were raised. After all, i m such a gd writer hah.
This was my mail. The qn was how Man U's formation should be after their 1st 3 horrible games. How they shd reshuffle agst Spurs on Sun.
This was my answer :
I think it is time to reinstate Paul Scholes to his favourite position - the hole behind the striker. After Rooney took over this position, Scholes was "relegated" to the holding midfield position. Now that there is Hargreaves and Carrick jostling for this holding midfield position, Scholes could be unleashed upon opposing defences.
The timing of his runs into the box is superb, and how long have we not seen his screamers from long range. His eye for goal has been stifled for so long, now it is time to release this goal poacher to his rightful position.
Thus, the best position for Fergie to resurrect this stuttering start is for Scholes to play behind Tevez, with Nani, Carrick, Giggs and Hargreaves orchestrating the midfield. A pity Park is out, otherwise he would infuse the team with the needed energy. I definitely have no confidence in O' Shea and Fletcher.
This is the best formation Fergie can make do with until he decides to buy a out and out striker. In the meantime, count on scholes.
