interview 2nd round
After one opportunity went begging, another one turned up unexpectedly.
i din really want this one STE cos mainly in YCK. 1st time i drove there for interview at 10 on a rainy Fri so not too bad. today's one was at 9 and i din wanna pay erp. as such, i left at 750 am and wAS late by 20 mins. Not very good for a start but i din really want it anyway. When they called me at 915 to ask where i was, i had to lie and say take wrong bus.
the first time, i saw hk in the guard room cos need change pass etc.. quite surprised but even more surprised that he went to read up on pointers, structures etc.. he was also surprised that i din even fill in the 4 page application form cos i sianz.. got all the career objectives kinda qns. i wanted to act blur if asked then seeing how serious hk n wayne were abt it, i decided to faster piah n write there.
the 1st interview wif wai leong went well. when u can talk personal things wif him, u know how gd it would go. SEP in finland is always a great topic to talk abt.. can always waste 10 mins on finland when i crap... and the poor mexican will be my scapegoat as i talk abt our partnership in doing the comms project.. WL was super nice.. he explained everything nicely.. i even saw what he graded me in the interview report.. but is GOOD only not EXcellent.. but there are two kinds.. i start off as software engineer then can either be maintenacne side or development side then in 3 yrs time will either take on project mgmt role OR technical role.. i wonder whether i will be willing to lun 3 yrs but is hardcore programming at a faraway location .. sianz sianz sianz
2nd time today, lasted only 10 mins.. i tried to lengthen it but this person was smart efficient n to the pt.. so i had to change approach.. but the best thing was 2 mins into the interview she asked if i take any programming mods.. i told her.. and then she suddenly ask.. name me the 7 layers in the internet architecture.. i stun.. i rmb only abt 3 or 4.. then she kept saying that i m EE not really comp sci or computing. so i will be at a disadvantage to comp engin pple and computing pple who have learnt java n OO b4.. i wanted t oask wad the hell OO was.. but i act like i know.. den she explained a bit that i have much to learn.. den i wayang say i sun micro also steep learning curve etc and tat i like to improve myself daily.. den i tot aiya watever la i not too gian also.. but was quite surprised when she say .. oh ok.. u certainly have the potential (my sun micro apprec letter helped too) we will take u in as a spare engineer. u learn the ropes then u go to some project..
