Tyranny of the vocal majority

As i sat down on a Sat evening in NUS mac, i was disturbed by a din from the other side of Mac. It was a group of rowdy Indians making merry. Granted, this was a public eating place, but the pandemonium they generated was higher than the tolerant decibel level. This led me to think of a term which i learnt before.. tyranny of the majority .. it also led me to rmb the time when me n cai watched the world cup match at nus staff club.. a grp of indians streamed in late, probably from Raffles Hall and surrounded themselves behind us. Becos the whole place was crowded to the max, we were situated at the back.. there was this other guy, looking suspiciously Vietnamese or chinese, who was there first and had cemented his standing spot.. however, this grp of indians bought some beer, and even had the cheek to ask this poor solitary guy to move away as he was blocking their view.. i mean, com'on , you guys were late and yet dare to ask pple to move to the obstructed view, and initially wanted to occupy the passageway .. but then since my personal interests were not in jeopardy, no one did anything as the poor guy shuffled his feet n moved to the side. however in the spirit of germany-argentina, all was forgotton soon enough.. talk abt majority wins

which brings me to another pt.. the majority doesnt always win.. refer to last sat soccer session whereby there seemed to be some indian society event.. both handball courts were occupied by teams of indians which even had gals in their teams playing leisurely.. by right, they said they could finish at 430 but let us use one court goodwillingly.. this goodwill was soon abused by victor's grp as we continued playing despite their pleas.. hence we chu zhao n use security since they have no apparent proof that they got book the court. in the end, a consensus was reached and they let us have one court while they played wif the other TIL 730 pm!! this shows that we need the presence of some kaobei or rather VOCAL pple ard.. another incident was last wed when we waited for both courts.. we decided to join sporean court instd becos vietnamese court is really too hiong.. but then viet scored then our turn n we were halfway into their court when the other side also scored.. then from our court we walk to the other court after some thinking tat playing wif sg better.. it was blatant waiting on both sides when there was another team waiting.. but then again tyranny of the vocal majority. it seems almost unfair that we abuse our own argument cos we normally accuse viets of waiting both sides n then dun let them play.. but yet in this case, 人多势大。 oh wellz, this goes to show that life is unfair..

and then the image of so many prcs n indians roaming abt in sch on a weekend appears again.. it seems the parks are meant for prc making out.. lover park ,kent ridge park. but then again if u were a foreign exchange student, there aint much places where u can hang out, can u? n i will link back to finland times.. to save money and on the super ex transport, u will stay in during weekends and not go to central helsinki to party.. up to now.. our one euro ESN card was not utilized and we nvr made it to wadever-the-name of the pub is.. where roberto frequented.. or have we been to the one dat zm n jf went to.. i guess one would stay in campus as wad we did in jamentaival.. it really feels like a dream to me.. my sep experience.. n right now it is back to reality.. books, mugging, tests, competitiveness, u dun study u lose out, honours, caps, results.. no more pass/fail..

p.s this wasnt meant to be a post targetting a certain grp of pple.. it was juz meant as a remembrance post and how i link things thru my thought process..
